  • Emergency Meetings of Faculty Senate
    • 11/1/21 emergency meeting of Faculty Senate held to discuss termination of Howard Marchitello
    • 11/10/21 emergency meeting with Chancellor Tillis to discuss termination of Howard Marchitello
    • 11/21/21 emergency meeting to discuss meeting with Chancellor Tillis and resolutions put forth at the end of the 11/10/21 meeting
    • Full faculty will be able to choose their position on resolutions (agree, disagree, abstain)

  • No Confidence Vote of Chancellor & Provost
    • Invitations sent for 2 minutes addresses to discuss no confidence vote
      • Andy Shankman-spoke with President Holloway, hopes for discussions rather than no confidence vote
      • Grace Brannigan-met with Chancellor Tillis regarding termination of Howard Marchitello. Requesting more meetings with Chancellor before no confidence vote.
      • Susan Miller-no confidence vote is a declaration we are paying attention, does not mean we lack confidence in campus, strength in solidarity.
      • Nir Yakoby-vote on 11/12/21 was premature, how do we achieve goals when campus is being divided by no confidence vote, establish committee for open discussions with the Chancellor
      • Chris Fitter-no place for autocracy on this campus
      • Keith Green-vote in support of no confidence, public declaration of a steadily escalating program to oppose and reshape administrations direction and methods
      • Dan Cook-vote not about strategy or tactics, vote is about whether faculty will allow capricious actions and decisions undertaken on the part of the Chancellor and Provost to go unanswered.
      • Jim Brown-we have spent precious attention on this situation, attention that is better spent on students and research, does the faculty trust the leadership that fired a dean mid-semester without a succession in place
    • Resolutions
  • Resolution of No Confidence in Chancellor Antonio Tillis
  • The abrupt and untimely dismissal of Dean Howard Marchitello by Chancellor Antonio Tillis has grievously injured the College of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers-Camden and has seriously eroded the trust of its faculty in his leadership. Subsequent efforts to explain the timing and execution of this decision at the invitation of the Faculty Senate only raised further doubts about his ability to lead. We thus find that we have no confidence in the Chancellor. If some measure of confidence is to be regained, the Chancellor must take significant steps to demonstrate his commitment to shared governance, transparency, and an inclusive vision for the College and its faculty.
  • Resolution of No Confidence in Provost Dan Hart
  • The abrupt, unexplained dismissal of Dean Howard Marchitello by Provost Dan Hart, at the direction of Chancellor Tillis, has done grave disservice to the College of Arts and Sciences and its faculty. Subsequent actions by Provost Hart in selecting interim leadership for the College and assembling a decanal search committee before making efforts to address a profound rupture in relations between the College and Campus leadership raised serious concerns about the Provost’s judgment and independence. Accordingly, we have no confidence in Provost Hart as our chief academic officer. If some measure of confidence is to be achieved, the Provost must address our concerns about governance and transparency in determining the leadership of the College of Arts and Sciences.
