Meeting of the Faculty Senate
Approved Minutes
March 26, 2018

The meeting was called to order at approximately 11:25 a.m., with FASC Senate President Julie Still presiding.  There are 38 Senators, including three officers, five senators-at-large, five senators on sabbatical, and two vacant positions (senators-at-large).  Of the 28 voting members, 15 were present. A quorum was met.

  1. A motion was made to approve the minutes of February 26, 2018. The motion was   Voting record: 14 ayes, 0 opposed, 1 abstention
  2. Julie Still introduced Chancellor Michael Palis, co-chair of the CCAS Dean’s Search Committee. Chancellor Palis shared the executive search recruiters firm name, Korn Ferry; the timeline of the process; the responsibilities of the Search Committee; and the ultimate decision making process.  The Internal Search Committee is soliciting ideas from Faculty, Staff, Students, and Alum to help develop the job description for the Deanship position.  All are encouraged to send comments/suggestions to RutgersCamdenFAS@KornFerry.com.  Nominations for candidacy can also be sent to this email address.  A request from the Senate floor was posed asking for a copy of the existing and/or previous job descriptions to assist with formulating questions and making recommendations.  Julie Still will send a formal request to the Search Committee via Mike Palis.  A question came from the Senators regarding Tenure/Promotion cases that need further attention after  Dean Lindenmeyer has vacated her position.  In the event that Dean Lindenmeyer has already stepped down and questions arise regarding a tenure/promotion case already brought forward, the acting dean will step in and take the lead on the case.  It is expected that Dean Lindenmeyer will have all of this wrapped up before stepping down, and will be available to the Acting Dean for consultation during that time.
