The meeting was called to order at 12:25 p.m.

 1.     A motion was made to approve the minutes of October 26, 2016. The motion was approved unanimously by voice vote.

2A.   Julie Still, on behalf of the Academic Policy Committee, presented a proposal for a new major in Gender Studies to begin September 2017. A motion was made for approval and seconded, and approved (all ayes and three abstentions). 

2B.    The following courses were proposed by the APC and approved by voice vote as recorded in the right-hand column.

 NOTE: Jennifer Thiel had previously agreed to contact the Registrar about loading onto Degree Navigator all newly approved courses for the Master Course List. Department chairs are encouraged to follow up with the Registrar and Advising to confirm that courses have been added, edited, or removed.

  1. Proposals to the Chancellor for a series of town hall meetings to discuss issues in the wake of the presidential election and a request that the Camden Campus be named a “sanctuary” campus were presented to the Senate. After much discussion and further input from the floor, revised letters are being drafted and will be presented for voting on the Faculty Senate Sakai site. An email announcement will be sent when the letters are posted and polls are open. Please review and vote as soon as possible.

A motion was made and approved to adjourn. 

The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 p.m.
