I. CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 12:20 in room 121 Armitage Hall, Dr. M. A. Rafey Habib, President, presiding. The February 18th 2002 minutes were APPROVED, VOICE VOTE.
II. Approval of Candidates for the Degree of Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Sciences:
Diplomas dated may 2002, Assistant Dean Nancy Gulick.
III. Mr. Joseph Schiavo, Chair, Rules of Procedure Committee.
Report of Nominations and Committee Election for AY 2002-2003.
Mr. Schiavo reported that the election ballot for faculty committees and offices is nearly
complete and will be mailed the week of April 22, 2002.
Mr. Schiavo also reported that the school of Business declined participation in the University
Senator-at-Large election administered by The Office of the Provost. Nominees for Senator-at-
Large are normally chosen from FAS, the Law School, and the School of Business.
IV. Dr. E. R. Cowley, Academic Policy and Course Study Committee.
Approval of New Courses. (Forms distributed at the April 22, 2002 meeting.)
1. History:
Motion to add: 50:014:300, The Slave Narrative, 3 credits,
50:014:301, Harlem Renaissance, 3 credits,
50:014:364, Black Political Tradition, 3 credits.
MOTION APPROVED, VOICE VOTE.
Proposed revision to policy on:
Concurrent Registration in Institutions outside of Rutgers (Transient Credit).
Matriculated students at Rutgers-Camden are expected to take all their courses at Rutgers-Camden, unless they receive permission in advance to take a course at another institution. Exceptions will not normally be given for courses needed to meet general curricular requirements. Exceptions may be granted if a student has only one term before graduation and needs a course that is not being offered during that term, or when a student’s major department authorizes taking an advanced or specialized course not available at Rutgers-Camden. Lower tuition, scheduling convenience, or traveling distance are not sufficient cause for taking courses elsewhere.
Prior to enrollment, students who wish to enroll at another college for credit must submit a transient application form, available from the office of the associate dean of the college or the Office of Student Affairs, for approval by the chairperson of their major department, the chairperson of the department in which the equivalent course is offered, and the associate dean of the college. Transient credit approval will not be granted retroactively.
Students must have the registrar of the transient school send an official transcript directly to the Rutgers-Camden registrar upon completion of the work. Acceptance of transient credit is based on a grade of C or better.
