III.  Senate Business

a.  Shared Governance Committee Presentation – Ann Heidelberg

This new committee has met several times over the past year but does not have a clear path in its responsibilities. The Committee met with Dean Griffin in the fall semester for some perspective and is now looking for ideas from the Faculty Senate on ideas as to what the Committee should tackle.

James Boucher: There cannot be shared governance if there is no transparency with Administration. An issue that may be of importance to tackle is the recent budget freeze that was handed down.

        • Robert Emmons: The Dean is planning to discuss this during the full FASC meeting scheduled for later today.

Rafey Habib: The Shared Governance Committee was created as a formal structure to be able to air grievances and/or concerns and maintain transparency between the administration and faculty.

Some ideas were discussed about what the Committee’s tasks could be in connection with the CCAS Senate and FASC.
